Federico "Rico" Salas was born in the artisan's village of San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. The two major art institutes of Mexico, which are in San Miguel, lended an atmosphere of diverse creativity, with master craftsmen of cooking, dance, theater and media-based art. Rico picked up drawing and painting in his early years and has now truly immersed himself in the New Orleans art scene. His hand made diaries of papel amate, recycled paper, wooden dowels and hand painted images are just a part of his work. If you're in town, Rico cordially invites you to visit the historic New Orleans French Market, located at 1235 French Market Place, where you can browse, eat and enjoy a stress free day of shopping.
